Ted Gasser Memorial Concert
I was recently involved with the Cosham Concert Brass in a concert which commemorated the life and playing career of bass trombonist Ted Gasser. Ted was the 'model' bandsman and had been a member of the Cosham Concert Brass up until his passing in December 1999.
Cosham Concert Brass organised a memorial concert which took place at Oaklands School in Waterlooville and kindly invited me to appear as guest soloist for the evening.

The concert proved to be a great success and included music by Handel, John Williams, Duke Ellington, Rodney Newton, Rodgers & Hammerstein and Chuck Rio to name but a few.

The Ted Gasser Memorial Shield was presented to Kenneth Dennison, President of the Southern Counties Amateur Band Association which is to be presented annually to the best bass trombone player at the Southern Counties Spring Festival.
The concert was sponsored in part by Boosey & Hawkes Musical Instruments Ltd.
