The 2000 Great Northern Brass Festival
The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester was host to The 2000 Great Northern Brass Arts Festival on the weekend of the 2nd September. The festival provided a full day of brass concerts and solo performances featuring some of the UK's top ensembles; Williams Fairey Band, Black Dyke Band, Marple Band, Halle Brass and St. Helen's Youth Band.
I was very fortunate in being featured soloist in the afternoon session with the St. Helen's Youth Brass Band conducted by Linda Nicholson. This band is one of the UK's finest youth ensembles and certainly gained many admirers with their performance.

The evening gala concert featured the Williams Fairey Band conducted by James Gourlay, Black Dyke Band conducted by Nicholas Childs, Halle Brass and London Symphony Orchestra Principal Trumpet Rod Franks.

The days activities yet again proved a big success (Bridgewater Hall being full to capacity for the evening concert ! ) and I very much look forward to the 2001 Great Northern Brass Arts Festival.
