Pennine Brass Concert
HuddersfieldI was recently invited to take part in a concert organised by a great friend of mine (and fabulous cornet player) Ian Porthouse. The concert took place in St. Paul's Hall which forms part of the University of Huddersfield and gave me the rare pleasure of playing alongside one of the legends of the brass band world, cornet virtuoso James Shepherd. James is one of the UK's most well known exponents of the cornet and was founder member of his James Shepherd Versatile Brass. His performances speak for themselves, he still produces first class playing, I only hope I can play as well as him when I get to his age!

Pennine Brass played exceptionally well throughout the evening. The programme was a fine mix of original repertoire for brass band, including works by Joseph Horovitz, Peter Graham and Gordon Langford.

The concert was a sell-out and judging from numerous comments I received from the audience after the show, Pennine Brass gained many fans from their fine performance. I wish them well in their forthcoming National Finals performance in the Royal Albert Hall in London.
