South London Fellowship Band Tunbridge Wells

I was recently involved in a thoroughly enjoyable concert in the picturesque town of Tunbridge Wells in Kent. The South London Fellowship Band invited me as guest soloist for a concert in aid of the Ridge View School in Tonbridge. This is a school for children with severe learning difficulties and the SLF Band have been previously involved raising funds for this worthy cause.

The concert took place in the Salvation Army Hall in Tunbridge Wells and was a sell-out. The programme included some fabulous Salvation Army music including Ray Steadman-Allen's 'His Guardian Care', Erik Leidzen's 'In the King's Service' and Charles Skinner's tone poem 'Heroes of the Faith'.

I featured one of my favourite solos with the band 'The Eternal Quest' by Ray Steadman-Allen alongwith Guilmant's 'Morceau Symphonique'. I was ably joined by pianist Linda Spinney in Hoagy Carmichael's lovely 'Stardust' and the 'Adagio' from Rachmaninov's Cello Sonata.

The evening proved a great success and I am due to repeat the concert with the SLF Band in the very near future. Keep an eye on the Diary page.
